Driver arrested after head-on crash with injuries in Searsburg

SEARSBURG — A 38-year-old woman from Wilmington was arrested for DUI following a crash in Searsburg yesterday.

The two-vehicle crash took place on Vermont Route 9, near the intersection of Old Route 9, at around 7:50 p.m.

One of the drivers was identified as Sara-Kate Grikstas, of Wilmington, and the other as Kelsey Goldsmith, 30, of Newfane.

Police say Grikstas crossed over the centerline and hit Goldsmith head-on.

Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.

While talking with Grikstas, police say several indicators of impairment were observed and she was screened for DUI.

She was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
