LYNDON CENTER — The Lyndon Institute Board of Trustees recently announced the selection of Dr. Brian Bloomfield as the school’s next Head of School.

Dr. Bloomfield was unanimously confirmed by Lyndon Institute’s board of trustees on September 14, following a nine-month search process.

He is currently the Head of Upper School at Dexter Southfield School in Brookline, MA.

Prior to his position at Dexter, Dr. Bloomfield served as Head of School at The Academy at Charlemont, a grade 6 to postgraduate independent school in western Massachusetts.

Several accomplishments during his time at Charlemont include establishing an alumni engagement strategy, building an ethical leadership program, and strengthening relationships within the broader community.

Dr. Bloomfield holds a Ph.D. in Education and Organizational Leadership and an M.A. in English Literature, both degrees from the University of Maryland, and a B.A. in Literature and Politics from Oberlin College in Ohio.

Dr. Bloomfield says he is both honored and humbled to join the Lyndon Institute community as the next Head of School.

“From the moment I stepped onto campus, I felt a profound sense of love for this school from students, faculty, staff, trustees, and community friends,” he said. “Whether in the hallways, on the playing fields, or among the many gathering spaces on campus, my conversations with students, faculty, and trustees have made it clear that LI is more than a community. It is a family.”
