CAMBRIDGE — A 38-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in Cambridge on Sunday.
Authorities were notified that a vehicle was stolen from Angelina’s Italian Restaurant on Route 15 at around 8:25 p.m.
An employee at the restaurant, Kimberly Bolio, 47, of Belvidere, told police that an unknown man approached her and asked for a ride to Burlington.
Bolio declined, and the man stole her car keys and sped away in her 2016 Toyota Corolla.
Police say approximately one hour later, they located Bolio’s vehicle after the suspect crashed it on Old Stage Road in Essex.
The suspect was still on scene and was identified as Jason Schofield.
Schofield admitted to Trooper’s that he stole the vehicle and then crashed it.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Police say during a search of his person they located seven 1mg Clonazepam pills that Schofield was not lawfully possessing.
Clonazepam is a schedule 4 controlled substance.
Police say the vehicle sustained major damage during the crash.
At the completion of processing, Schofield was lodged at Northwest State Correctional Facility for lack of bail for the charges of aggravated operation without owner’s consent, possession of narcotics, driving with a criminally suspended license, and leaving the scene of an accident.
More charges may be coming as this case is still being investigated, police say.
