Deer causes crash with injury on Vermont Route 3, Proctor

PROCTOR — A 25-year-old woman from West Rutland was involved in a single-vehicle crash with injury caused by a deer in Proctor.

On September 3, authorities were notified of a crash that took place on Vermont Route 3 at around 11:25 a.m.

Police say Kaelin Reopell was headed north on Route 3 prior to the crash when she was forced off the west side of the road to avoid a deer. 

Police say she impacted a drainage culvert below a driveway, drove up an embankment, became airborne, and overturned her vehicle.  

The vehicle came to rest on its driver’s side door.  

Pittsford Fire Department were able to extricate her from the vehicle at which time she was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center by Regional Ambulance Service for injuries resulting from the crash.
