ST. JOHNSBURY — A former Caledonia County Sheriff’s Department captain is accused of seeking naked photos and sex from several women he encountered as an officer in exchange for money.
Stephen Bunnell, 47, of St. Johnsbury, was cited for prostitution and prohibited conduct in St. Johnsbury yesterday following a lengthy investigation that began in April 2020.
Detectives allege that Bunnell sought nude photographs and/or sex in exchange for money from several women who were involved with the criminal justice system.
State police investigators worked closely with Windham County State’s Attorney Tracy Shriver on the case after the Caledonia County State’s Attorney’s Office recused itself.
He was issued a citation through his attorney yesterday.
He is due in court to answer the misdemeanor charges on September 27.
