Police investigating catalytic converter thefts in Dummerston

DUMMERSTON — A series of thefts were reported in Dummerston yesterday.

Police say catalytic converters were stolen from vehicles parked at several common swimming holes along Vermont Route 30 near Williamsville Road and Quarry Road.

Police say an individual went under the victim’s vehicle and utilized a Sawzall or similar tool to cut off the catalytic converter from the vehicle.

Anyone who may have observed suspicious behavior in the area is being asked to contact Sgt. Ryan Wood at the State Police Westminster barracks at 802-722-4600.

State police also ask people be on the lookout for suspicious people possessing Sawzall style cutting tools in parking areas as there is a rising occurrence of catalytic converter theft throughout the area.
