While attempting to pull the vehicle over, the driver accelerated away and began passing other vehicles.

Police say they discontinued the chase as the driver was putting other traffic in danger.

About 5 minutes later authorities received a report of a two-vehicle crash involving the truck that had eluded them.

The driver of the second vehicle was identified as Michael Harbec, 54, of Irasburg,

Police say the juvenile failed to stop at a stop sign and continued to travel across the centerline causing Harbec to crash into the vehicle.

Police say all parties involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries and a passenger in Harbec’s vehicle was transported by EMS to the North Country Hospital.

Police arrested the juvenile for grossly negligent operation, eluding a police officer, excessive speed, and recklessly endangering another person.
