Driver arrested for DUI #2 after found parked, asleep in middle of Route 112 in Whittingham

WHITINGHAM — A 26-year-old man from Jacksonville was arrested for his second DUI, as well as disorderly conduct, following an incident in Whitingham on Saturday.

Authorities were notified that a vehicle was parked in the middle of Vermont Route 112 near Vermont Route 8A at around 3:30 a.m..

Police say a man was asleep in the driver’s seat of the vehicle when they arrived. 

The man turned the vehicle on and attempted to put the vehicle in gear, police say. 

The driver was identified as Patrick Eilers. 

Police allege Eilers was impaired and arrested him for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department for processing. 

According to the report, after processing, he was transported to the Springfield Hospital for a medical evaluation where he began to yell profanities in the hospital, disrupting the staff and patients.

Police say due to his level of intoxication he was transported to Southern State Correctional Facility where he was held as an INCAP.
