CRAFTSBURY — Just in time for mud season’s end, the Craftsbury Community Care Center is launching its spring fundraiser by offering, in collaboration with Chuck’s Bikes in Morrisville, a chance to win a Marin DSX2 gravel bicycle.
Gravel bikes, also known as adventure bikes, are similar to road bikes but designed to tackle a variety of surfaces.
They are suitable for all-day riding on roads less traveled.
This is the Care Center’s second raffle, and the board says they hope it proves as successful as last summer’s canoe.
As a non-profit residential care home providing support to elders from all socioeconomic sectors, including Medicaid-based, fundraising is always critical to closing financial gaps.
COVID-19 added new challenges to the Center. Not only were its two usual fundraisers canceled in 2020 and unable to resume in 2021, but expenses were higher and COVID restrictions prevented the Center from filling vacancies as it normally would, resulting in unusually low occupancy for over a year.
The in-demand Marin gravel bike is a $1,300 value and only 250 tickets will be sold.
The drawing will be Saturday, May 1, at 2 p.m. at the Care Center.
The winner can choose either a large or medium, and Hank Glowiak of Chuck’s Bikes will adjust the bike to fit.
The winner can also choose a different model with a $790 trade-in.
The winner will pick up the bike at Chuck’s Bikes in Morrisville.
Tickets are $25 each and available online at craftsburycommunitycarecenter.org, from Chuck’s Bikes in Morrisville, or from Craftsbury Community Care Center board members.
