NEWPORT — A 69-year-old resident of Jay has died from injuries he sustained earlier this month when he was hit head-on by another vehicle in Newport Center.

Authorities say Bruce Santaw was rushed to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on February 9, where he was unresponsive and ultimately passed away three days later.

The two-vehicle crash took place on Vermont Route 100, near Collins Mill Road, on February 2.

Trooper Logan Miller said that 41-year-old Tiffany Crandall, of Charleston, was headed south when she attempted to pass a plow truck.

Santaw was traveling north when he collided head-on with Crandall in his lane.

Both drivers were removed from their vehicles and transported to North Country Hospital.

Santaw was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Feb. 12.
