NEWPORT — A man suspected of shooting an individual at a Newport parking lot in November has been arrested.
Jaquan Flintroy, 26, of Hartford, Conn., was arrested and charged with attempted murder as well as federal drug and firearms charges.
Flintroy was apprehended without incident this morning at a residence in Westmore.
On Monday, Nov. 30, at 11:30 a.m., police responded to the Waterfront Plaza parking lot for a report of a shooting.
Donta Flowers Sr., 44, also of Hartford, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.
Investigators identified Flintroy as the suspected shooter.
“I want to thank all of the law enforcement partners who contributed to bringing this suspect into custody today for their commitment to this investigation since this incident occurred,” Newport Police Chief Bingham said.
Flintroy is currently being held at the Northwest Correctional Facility in St. Albans and is expected to be arraigned in federal court in Burlington.
