Cow dies after being hit by truck in Irasburg

IRASBURG — A truck hit a cow that wandered onto the road in Irasburg on Wednesday.

Authorities were notified of the incident on Vermont Route 14 at around 5:00 p.m.

Jeffrey Shatney told police that he was traveling south and struck an all-black cow that was in the travel portion of the road.

The cow was killed as a result of the collision.

Visibility was limited at the time of the crash due to wind and falling snow, police say.

Shatney was driving a Peterbilt truck that sustained front-end damage during the crash.
