Resident Engineer Jeremy Dean provides an update on trail construction progress at VLT’s Bluffside Farm, in Newport.
In this video, the helical piles that will support a bike path over Scott’s Cove are all installed and leveled, and some tricky bedrock that got in the way of a portion of the gravel path was tackled.
Background: This fall and next spring they will be building a bridge across Scotts Cove and a 3/4-mile gravel path that will connect a trail in downtown Newport with a lakeside trail that goes toward the Canadian border.
This trail will be open to walkers, runners, bikers, and skiers.
