NorthWoods hiring for late summer/fall season

EAST CHARLESTON — The NorthWoods Stewardship Center’s Conservation Corps and Forest Stewardship Institute are hiring six positions for the late summer/fall season.

The Sustainable Forestry Internship is hiring three individuals for a paid 40-hour a week 6-week program, during which interns will gain experience while working with Forest Stewardship staff on forestry, conservation, habitat management, and landowner outreach projects.

Qualified applicants should have basic knowledge of ecology and/or forestry, ability to identify local tree species, and chainsaw training.

The VT Fish & Wildlife Stone Crew will be working a 10-week season to improve access to state Fish & Wildlife lands including the building and maintaining sets of stone steps, improving existing trails and access areas to increase accessibility by the public, planting of vegetation, and promoting conscientious stewardship of public accesses to state lands.

Three individuals will be hired for this 40-hour per week crew.

Qualified applicants should have basic knowledge of trail and stonework, landscaping, or masonry.

Northwoods says work for both positions is performed primarily outdoors, with COVID health and safety guidelines in place for the protection of employees and the community.
