Newport man ordered held without bail after assault and robbery

DERBY — A Newport man was arrested after police say he pointed a gun at two people demanding money.

Police responded to a robbery at the Derby Mobile Home Park at around 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

The victim stated a male entered his home armed with a firearm.

Following an investigation, police allege Paul Patenaude entered the victim’s home armed and pointed the firearm at them and demanded money and other personal property.

Patenaude then left the residence and was located at his residence in Newport.

He was ordered held without bail at Northern State Correctional Center.

He is being charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling with a deadly weapon, two counts of reckless endangerment, and two counts of assault and robbery.
