DERBY — Kingdom Games and the Northeast Kingdom Open Water Swimming Association recently announced that a new small group swimming series at The Clubhous on Lake Memphrenagog will be offered on four Saturdays in July and three Saturdays in August this summer.

Each swim is limited to 10 swimmers and 10 kayakers and will be held in a socially distanced manner in accordance with Vermont’s newly expanded guidelines regarding recreational athletic gatherings.

Each swim offers several options, including 2, 3.3, 4, 6.5, and 10-mile distances.

Fees are only $50 for the 2 to 4-mile options and $100 for the 6.5 and 10-mile options.

The swims are open to residents of Vermont or from designated counties in New England and New York, or anyone who has self quarantined for 14 days.

Organizers say the swims are not competitive, and there are no prizes being given out.

The events are only organized for the joy of open water swimming.
