North Country Hospital earns echocardiography re-accreditation

1 min read

NEWPORT — North Country Hospital’s Cardiac Ultrasound Laboratory has been granted an additional three-year term of accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Echocardiography.

This latest accreditation awarded to North Country Hospital demonstrates the facility’s ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in echocardiography.

It is the seventh consecutive time North Country Hospital has received this accreditation.

The IAC works with more than 14,000 sites throughout the U.S. and Canada to provide a pathway for documenting quality patient care.

This accreditation demonstrates the extensive collaboration between physicians and sonographers at the hospital.

IAC accreditation is a means by which facilities can evaluate and demonstrate the level of patient care they provide during their Cardiac Ultrasounds.

Lou Ann Laffoon, Kaitlyn Jacobs, and Dr. Michael Hayes successfully completed the three-year review period to obtain accreditation once again.

This effort was primarily led by Technical Directors Bev Gage and Pauline Labor, who are both North Country retirees.

They helped set the foundation for Lou Ann and Kaitlyn, who now oversee the program.

“The team in the Cardiac Ultrasound (Echo) Lab demonstrates the excellent quality and care that is provided to our patients,” Practice Director, Stephanie LaBarron said. “They take great pride in performing thorough examinations according to documented best practice standards. It is a pleasure to work with such a team of experts.”
