BROWNINGTON — A suspicious fire that broke out in Brownington on Monday is under investigation.

The Orleans Fire Department responded to 1523 Evansville Road for a report of a structure fire at around 1:00 p.m.

Firefighters encountered a mobile home that was fully engulfed in flames.

The trailer had recently been rented, however, the tenants were in the process of moving out.

Authorities say nobody was home at the time of the fire, and there were no reported injuries.

Orleans Fire Chief EJ Rowell contacted fire investigators to assist in determining the origin and cause of this fire.

Investigators say it was determined that the building had no electrical power supply, and although the previous tenants still had property at the residence, no one was currently residing there.

The homeowner told police that although the tenants were moving out their departure was not “amicable.”

An accelerant detection canine was utilized at the scene and the fire remains under investigation and is considered suspicious.

The fire originated in the southern part of the trailer near the kitchen and dining room area.

The Orleans Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Irasburg Fire Department.
