NEWPORT — Senior Deputy Kyle Ingalls is taking a new position with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department announced on Monday.

Ingalls has been working towards this goal for several years, and recently decided it was the best decision he could make for himself and his family.

Ingalls was first hired on part-time in March of 2009 and graduated from the full-time academy in December of 2010.

Ingalls went on to become a Field Training Officer, Team Two Instructor, ARIDE certified, Active Shooter Response Instructor, certified ALICE trainer, certified in Forensic Interviewing of Children, and the first certified School Resource Officer in Orleans County.

Senior Deputy Ingalls was the SRO for North Country Union High School and later Lake Region Union High School.

“Senior Deputy Ingalls will be missed but again we are all looking forward to working with him in his new role in law enforcement as a Customs Border Protection Officer,” the department said in a statement.
