Man arrested after found unconscious inside vehicle in Newport Center

NEWPORT — A 46-year-old man from New Hampshire was arrested after an incident in Newport Center yesterday.

Police say the man was found behind the wheel of his vehicle unconscious on Vance Hill Road at around 6:08 a.m.

Police identified him as Derek Hardy, of Barrington, NH.

While speaking with Hardy, police say indicators of impairment were detected.

Police searched Hardy’s vehicle and say they found unauthorized prescription narcotics.

Hardy was arrested and transported to State Police barracks in Derby for processing.

He is facing charges of DUI, possession of a depressant, stimulant, and narcotic drug.
