North Country Hospital’s 2nd Annual Supermarket Sweep

1 min read

NEWPORT — Just like the 1980s TV show Supermarket Sweepstakes, on Saturday morning two raffle winners had 2 minutes, 30 seconds and 2 minutes respectively, to fill their carts with as many groceries as possible.

David Ghelli, who ran for raffle winner Frank Pinard, and Kari Brousseau, who ran for her sister Kelley, managed to pile their carts with nearly $700 worth of items that VISTA is donating to this fundraiser.

They each had strategic plans in mind with one cart going to the NEKCA food shelf.

Spectator Merelene Wagner, won a $50 VISTA gift card on Saturday.

The raffle raised $2,800 for the hospital’s patient care initiatives program, which assists local patients with medical and daily living needs through their medical providers.
