DERBY — Police responded to a three-car crash in Derby on Monday.

The crash took place at the set of lights in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts on US Route 5, at around 4:30 p.m.

Police say Richard Ryan, 63, of Derby, and Kirsten Avery, 18, also of Derby, were stopped at the red light.

When the light turned green, Ryan was struck from behind by Katrina Carrier, 25, of Derby.

The momentum from the crash sent Ryan’s vehicle into the back of Avery.

According to the report, although none of the drivers or their passengers were transported to the hospital, minor injuries were reported.

Police say Carrier had no insurance and her license was criminally suspended.

She was ticketed for having no insurance and issued a citation to appear in court for operating a motor vehicle with a criminally suspended license.

East Main Auto towed Carrier’s vehicle from the scene.

  1. Even though the light had just turned green, I cannot believe the number of times folks run those lights. If it weren’t for the greater distance from the stop line on Quarry Road to Route 5 there would be many more accidents.
