NEWPORT — The MAC Center for the Arts bids farewell to the colorful Fence Project that has been on display for the past two years.

Whether you viewed it as ribbons or rags, it was a community-driven artistic statement that juxtaposed the hardscape behind the chain link.

The panels, produced by MAC as well as The Memphremagog Watershed Association, NEK Velo, Newport Recreation, represented the Farmer’s Market, the Hebard Building’s Fish and a New England postcard.

As the city of Newport readies for the centennial celebration, the panels will be archived in their memories.
