NEWPORT — Tristian Geoffery, who lives in Newport and grew up on the slopes of Jay Peak, was featured on ABC Local 22 on Monday. Click above to watch the video.
Geoffery is one of 300 athletes who took part in Special Olympics Vermont’s 2018 Winter Games at Pico Mountain in Killington.
The Winter Games began on Sunday, March 18 with the Opening Ceremony and the Parade of Athletes at 7:00 p.m.
Athletes competed in alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver started Special Olympics in 1968 as a backyard sports program for people with intellectual disabilities.
2018 marks the 50th anniversary of what has grown into a global movement.
