NEWPORT — A 57-year-old Newport man was tragically killed in a farm accident this morning.
At around 6:00 a.m. emergency crews were notified of a farm incident at Pleasant Valley Farms in Berkshire.
Ambulance services responded to the scene and shortly after arrival, the victim was identified as James Davio.
Police are saying that a 22-year-old man had been operating a Cat 928 bucket loader, retrieving grain to transport to a truck to feed the cows.
The man had been doing this chore alone and didn’t know that Davio arrived at work.
While operating the bucket loader to retrieve a load of grain he didn’t see Davio, who was struck by the bucket loader and subsequently run over.
Police say he died at the scene.
