NEWPORT — The Newport Police Department has partnered with Revision Military to obtain equipment that will be used to keep officers safe when responding to high-risk situations.
Working with Revision, Newport Police purchased five ballistic helmets and five pairs of ballistic glasses, and Revision facilitated additional modular accessories for the helmets, including helmet bags, visors, and visor cases.
These accessories are designed to provide different levels of protection for various situations and to allow police to modify the equipment based on the situation.
The Newport Police Department says the gear will be vital when officers are responding to situations involving suspects with weapons, high-risk search and arrest warrants, barricaded suspects and acts of terrorism.
“Our partnership with Revision Military is a great example of how businesses in town continue to support the Newport Police Department and our mission to deliver excellent service to our community,” Chief DiSanto said. “This equipment will be crucial for officers and will help ensure their safety when responding to high-risk situations.”
