NEWPORT — During the past year, Newport City Elementary School students have been walking to school.
They learned that the same skills needed to walk to school are very similar to those needed to hike.
Through a collaboration with Safe Kids Worldwide, VDH and the Green Mountain Club, North Country Hospital was able to help local Kingdom Kids stay healthy, learn safe pedestrian skills and have fun while doing something as simple as walking to school.
For all students who walked each month, they were treated to a special outing.
