IRASBURG — The Irasburg planning commission is planning the second of a series of evening Open Houses designed to enhance opportunities for Irasburg’s citizens to share in the development of the community’s town plan.
The informal Open House will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, at Irasburg’s Leach Public Library.
The December Open House will focus on the topic of housing, with the opportunity to address three main questions:
How can we make our homes more energy efficient?
How can we help our senior citizens remain in their homes?
What types of building patterns should we encourage for future housing construction in Irasburg?
Efficiency Vermont energy expert Paul Markowitz will share information about how to make homes as energy efficient as possible and will discuss potential funding resources for homeowners who seek to make efficiency improvements. Copies of the current draft housing chapter of the town plan will be available.
Future Open Houses will focus on a range of planning topics from economic development to land use.
“We hope citizens will join us for as short or as long a time as they choose,” said planning commission clerk Judith Jackson. “This is a busy season, and we know that it is difficult to find time to attend an entire planning commission meeting. However, we hope people can find a few minutes to stop by and share their views. We’ll keep things informal, and coffee and cookies will be on the agenda.”
