BROWNINGTON — Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who crashed into a car with a 4-month-old child inside in Brownington on Friday.

At around 8:20 p.m. police responded to the two-car crash on Frog Pond Road in Brownington.

The driver, Annette Cote, 34, of Brownington, told police that a pickup truck had caused the accident before fleeing the scene.

Cota told police she had been driving east on Frog Pond Road with her 4-month-old child in the car with her, when the truck, traveling west, came into her lane at a high rate of speed, forcing her off the road and side-swiping her vehicle.

The truck did not stop after the crash.

There were no injuries to Cota or her child.

While investigating, police say there was blue paint transferred on Cota’s vehicle, as well as tire rub a significant length up the doors, indicative of a blue or partially blue truck with large tires.

There may be significant body damage to the driver’s side of the truck as well as white paint transfer from Cota’s vehicle.

The truck fled west towards Orleans village.

Vermont State Police are currently attempting to locate this vehicle and the driver.
