EDEN — A 23-year-old man from Virginia crashed his vehicle into the Eden General Store at around 9 a.m. this morning.
Jordan Parker, of Verona, Virginia, was headed east on Route 118 when he failed to stop at the intersection of Route 100.
Police say Parker continued through the intersection at approximately 45 miles-per-hour. Once through the intersection and into the parking lot, Parker continued until crashing into the store.
As a result of the collision his 2005 Jeep Liberty went through the exterior of the wall and partially into the store, causing significant structural damage.
No one in the store at the time of the collision was hit, and there were no reported injuries during the crash.
Parker told police he was blinded by the sun and unfamiliar with the roadway, which led to the crash.
He was issued a civil traffic complaint for failing to stop at the intersection, but police say no criminal charges are pending. Are you on Instagram? Cool. So are we. CLICK HERE to follow us for a behind the scenes look at Newport Dispatch.
