DERBY — Two Derby residents are being charged in connection with an armed robbery that took place in Eden on Thanksgiving Day.
Police say that Anthony J. Bolio, 29, of Derby, and Melissa Leonard, 28, of Derby, were picked up in Derby Line on Tuesday.
On Thanksgiving Day, a man entered Uncle Bills Mini Mart in Eden, waving a knife and demanding cash. The man left with an undisclosed amount of cash in a black Ford Escape with a Vermont registration. Surveillance photos of the vehicle were released by police, who say that numerous tips came in regarding the vehicle.
Today, detectives and troopers executed two search warrants simultaneously. While in the process of the warrant execution, Bolio and Leonard were observed driving by the residence.
The vehicle was subsequently stopped in Derby Line, and both were taken into custody without incident.
At the time of the stop, Bolio had numerous active arrest warrants for attempting to elude law enforcement, careless and negligent operation, driving with a criminally suspended license, and violation of conditions of release.
A third occupant in the vehicle also had an active arrest warrant and was taken into custody as well.
The suspects were brought to the Derby barracks. Boil was processed for assault and robbery, and Leonard was processed for accessory to assault and robbery.
