Three injured in Newport crash

NEWPORT — A two-vehicle crash that took place on East Main Street in Newport Tuesday morning sent three people to the hospital.

Police say that at around 11:45 a.m., Dominic Smith, 19, of Newport, was turning left onto East Main Street, when his 2002 Hyundai Accent hit a truck that was traveling east.

Brian Brock, 50, of Morgan, was the driver of the truck and the sole occupant in the vehicle.

There were two passengers traveling with Smith at the time.

Derby Line and Newport Ambulance responded to the scene, and took Smith and his two passengers to North Country Hospital.

Brock was not injured in the crash.

Police did not specify the exact nature of the injuries, but say that they are investigating the accident.
