Driver hits bear in Danville

DANVILLE — A woman from St. Johnsbury had her car heavily damaged after she hit a bear yesterday.

The incident happened at around 6:50 p.m. on U.S. Route 2 in the town of Danville.

Tracy Verge, 44 of St. Johnsbury, was traveling east when she struck the black bear as it was attempting to cross the roadway.

Verge’s vehicle sustained heavy damage to the front driver’s side and had to be towed from the scene.

She was uninjured in the crash.

Police say that the bear did not survive the incident.
