Man arrested after alleged assault at McDonald’s in Derby

DERBY — Police are reporting that a 45-year-old man from Orleans is facing a simple assault charge after an incident that took place at McDonald’s in Derby this afternoon.

According to police, Albert Cole, 45, was arrested and charged with simple assault at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

In a statement, Sgt. A. Jensen of the Vermont State Police said that he found probable cause that Cole began physically assaulting a 34-year-old man from Newport in front of numerous witnesses.

A manager at McDonald’s in Derby said that she could not comment on the incident.

Cole was processed at VSP Derby barracks, issued a citation, and released.
