DERBY — Police say that there were no injuries during a crash that took place outside Shaws on Sunday morning.

According to police, Gail Chaffee, 60, of Newport, had been traveling northbound on Route 5, when she stopped and was waiting to turn left into the Shaws Plaza.

Police say Christopher Lynch, 44, of Derby, was traveling southbound at approximately 25 to 30 miles-per-hour, and ended up crossing over the solid double yellow lines, striking Chaffee as she was stopped in her lane. The crash happened at around 9:24 a.m.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage to their front driver’s side areas. East Main Auto towed Chaffee’s 2003 Pontiac Grand Am from the scene. The Derby Line Fire Department had to come out as there were leaked fluids on Route 5 after the crash.

Newport Ambulance responded as well to check on both drivers, but nobody was transported to the hospital.
