NEWPORT — On Monday night, candidates for mayor of Newport, and candidates running for the two open slots on the Newport City Council, took part in a forum at the Goodrich Memorial Library. Mayor Paul Monette is being challenged by Susan Davis, Jesse Elliott, and Sharon Stewart. Running for the two City Council seats are Mark Guyette, Anthony Moccia, Jacques Roberge, Ruth Sproull, Steve Vincent, and Corey Therrien. Scott Wheeler was the moderator.
