IRASBURG — A car accident in Irasburg Sunday evening resulted in two people being taken to North Country Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
According to a statement issued by police, Kurt Heinchon, 28, of Lowell, was traveling west on Vermont Route 58 in Irasburg, when he swerved off the road and struck a tree stump. Heinchon told police that a deer ran into the roadway, causing him to drive off the road and onto the shoulder.
The crash took place at around 6:45 p.m.
A 4-year-old passenger was inside the vehicle at the time. Heinchon was not wearing his seat belt, but the child was secured in a child safety seat.
Both Heinchon and the child were transported by Orleans Ambulance to North Country Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Irasburg Fire Department responded and assisted at the scene.
The vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Scion, sustained extensive front end damage.
