NEWPORT — Burlington developer Tony Pomerleau, who owns the Newport Waterfront Plaza, has apparently ended a deal with Jay Peak President Bill Stenger to sell him the property. Newport Waterfront Plaza was slated to become the Marina Hotel and Convention Center.
The leases that tenants at the shopping center signed include a contingency plan in case the property is sold, however, all signals from Pomerleau indicate that it is not going to happen.
What is supposed to happen now, is that this fall Pomerleau is planning to work on the facade of the shopping center. Pomerleau is saying that it will look like a new building. Vista will stay where it’s at, and both Waterfront Cinemas and Wendy’s will see some improvements.
