Police looking for suspect in Pick and Shovel theft

NEWPORT — Police are looking for a man who stole between $800 – $900 worth of merchandise from Pick and Shovel last Thursday. The suspect is pictured in the above photo taken from the surveillance camera located at store.

Police are saying that the theft happened at around 5:30 p.m. The suspect is described as a white male, six feet tall, with a goatee.

Officer Tanner Jacobs said that the man was wearing tan work pants, a black sweatshirt, and a camouflage baseball cap with yellow writing on it at the time of the theft.

It is assumed that he exited the building with the merchandise and fled on foot.

He is reported to have taken several pairs of work pants, a couple pairs of Chippewa work boots, along with a few other clothing items.

Anyone with any information, or anyone who recognizes the suspect in the photo is asked to contact the Newport City Police at 802-334-6733.
