With a field limit of 500 riders, this 60 mile unsanctioned gravel road race covers 40 miles of gravel back roads through some of the most scenic and pristine landscapes of Vermont. The Dirty 40 Race unites riders of all abilities and disciplines, from racers to riders, including road, cyclocross, singlespeed, tandem, and mountain bikes.

Categories include Men’s Overall, Women’s Overall, Men’s 40+, Women’s 40+, Men’s 60+, Women’s 60+, Tandem, and Singlespeed.

There is no prize purse but bragging rights are bestowed, along with timing chips, trophies, and jerseys given to the winners.

There will be live music at the Apres-Velo party located at the finish line.

Started in 2013, co-founders Anthony Moccia and Heidi Myers had a vision to get 50 riders to the most remote area of Vermont to ride our scenic gravel roads. They didn’t do this for profit, but because they love cycling and saw a need in the community.

After the cost of putting on a race is paid for, all existing money is donated to the Halo Foundation. The Halo Foundation gives 100 percent of the money to patients struggling with the costs of cancer.

The Northeast Kingdom has the highest population of cancer in the State of Vermont. That, combined with the fact that the major cancer treatment centers are over two hours away from here, you start to understand why they have been so passionate to grow this event.
