Police make arrest in Roxbury follwowing traffic stop

BOSTON — Boston police arrested a 29-year-old man on firearm and drug charges Monday after a traffic stop in Roxbury.

At 11:47 a.m., members of the Youth Violence Strike Force stopped a vehicle driving in reverse on a one-way street near 610 Shawmut Avenue.

Officers approached the car and asked the driver, Edward De Los Santos-Naveo of Boston, to remain inside.

During the stop, police found a Glock 43 handgun with nine rounds in the magazine.

The firearm was later determined to be stolen from Maine.

Officers also recovered 29 bags of marijuana and approximately $780 in cash.

De Los Santos-Naveo was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, receiving stolen property under $1,200, and armed career criminal level two.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
