NEW HAVEN — Police have cordoned off an area around a church at Ferry Street and Peck after a body was discovered on the steps early Saturday morning.
New Haven Police Department officials are on the scene, where they were called shortly after the body was found.
The identity of the deceased, as well as the cause of death, have not yet been released.
Authorities have not provided any further details about the investigation at this time.
The area surrounding the scene will remain blocked off until further notice as the investigation continues.
Residents are advised to avoid the area and to expect detours around the closed-off streets.
The NHPD is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
