IRASBURG — A 36-year-old woman from East Hardwick was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Irasburg early Sunday morning.

At around 1:00 a.m. police responded to the crash on US Route 5.

The driver was identified as Karen Zucker.

Police say she was traveling south when for unknown reasons her vehicle left the roadway on the west shoulder.

“Evidence indicates that Zucker made no attempt at braking prior to leaving the roadway,” a statement issued by trooper Abigail Drew reads.

The 2011 Nissan Altima left the roadway, collided with a utility pole, snapping it and leaving wires in the roadway.

Zucker was initially transported to North Country Hospital and later to DMHC for her injuries.

According to police at this time her injuries are considered serious.
