Eagle fledglings takes flight from Bluffside Farm in Newport

1 min read

NEWPORT — Eagles have once again successfully nested at Bluffside Farm in Newport.

Two baby eaglets that were nesting at the location have fledged from the nest.

Nesting bald eagles are very sensitive to disruption and can abandon their young if approached by people.

It was essential for hikers, birdwatchers and photographers to stay outside the restricted area until the young eagles fledged.

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department monitored the nest, and thank visitors for respecting the temporary restrictions that were in place at Bluffside Farm.

Hopefully, these eagles will thrive in Newport for generations to come.
