COVENTRY — Construction crews working on ledge stabilization along Route 5 in Coventry will continue construction tasks to prepare for the scaling of the ledge.

The project is located approximately 2.5 miles north of the Coventry line where the roadway occupies a narrow corridor between the subject rock cut on the west and the Black River to the east.

Travel will be reduced to one lane at the project site with alternating one-way traffic. Traffic control personnel will be present to maintain traffic flow.

The contractor says they are making every effort to complete as much work as possible prior to the closure period.

A 30-day closure of Route 5, at the project site, is scheduled to start Monday, July 24.

An offsite detour will be marked with signs.

  1. The businesses Small Town Hobbies and European Auto Works will still be accessible from the Coventry side via the Alderbrook rd or Coventry station rd.
