NEWPORT — The Newport Police Department has cited three people from West Burke for their involvement in an alleged retail theft that occurred back in December of 2016.

Michael Peccolo, 45, was charged with retail theft. Karen Peccolo, 45, and Sharon Ash, 70, were charged with accessory before the fact.

On Saturday, Newport Police learned that a retail theft had occurred at the Memphremagog Arts Collaborative, commonly referred to as the MAC Center, on December 19.

Utilizing the store’s surveillance video, officers were able to capture the suspects in action.

Police put still photos from the theft on their department Facebook page and reached out to the public for assistance in identifying those involved.

After police verified their identities, all three were cited and will be summonsed to Orleans District Court on Tuesday, March 21.
