Police: Charleston woman charged after overdosing with child in her car

NEWPORT — A 45-year-old woman from Charleston faces child endangerment charges after police say she overdosed in her car in Derby.

Police say on Sunday evening, at around 6:15 p.m. they responded to Main Street for a medical issue involving a driver in a parked vehicle in the eastbound lane.

Police were informed that a young child was in the car at the scene.

Police say the driver, Savannah Bradshaw, 45, of Charleston, was transported to North Country Hospital where it was determined the incident was in relation to a suspected heroin overdose.

The child was released to family members and was not harmed.

Police say that Bradshaw is facing charges of grossly negligent operation and child endangerment.
