BROWNINGTON — Police say that the death of a 38-year-old man from Brownington was the result of a “incised injury to the chest.”
On Monday, at around 8:30 a.m., police responded to a 911 report of an unresponsive male at a residence on Evansville road in the town of Brownington.
Troopers and Orleans Rescue arrived and found Kevin Smith, deceased of unknown causes. At the time, a death investigation began and Smith was brought to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Police issued a statement today that the autopsy on Kevin Smith was completed and it was found that he died of an “incised injury to the chest.”
They also say that the 911 call was made by the homeowner, Jennifer Simard of Brownington. They say Smith had been living at this residence.
“The manner of death is pending,” a statement issued by police reads. “The investigation is continuing and no further information is being released at this time.”
The statement goes on to say that during the initial investigation, detectives discovered that Simard had an outstanding arrest warrant for retail theft issued out of Orleans County.
