LYNDON – Police say two 15-year-old girls were struck by a westbound Honda Civic at the intersection of Center Street and College Road in the town of Lyndon last night.

The incident took place at around 7:45 p.m. The two were crossing the street in a well marked crosswalk, when they were hit by the vehicle.

One of the victims is from Cabot, the other from Alberg.

Joshua Hastings, 25, of Lyndonville, was the driver of the vehicle.

Police say both women sustained serious injuries after hitting the Honda’s hood and windshield. One of the victims injured her neck and shoulder, the other suffered injuries to her head and elbow.

They were both transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.

One of the girls was later airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Police say alcohol was not a factor in the accident and the investigation is ongoing.
