Missing woman found dead in Irasburg

Car accident Newport VermontIRASBURG — The search for a missing woman in Irasburg ended tragically on Wednesday when investigators found the woman dead at around 6:15 p.m.

Police are saying that Patricia Little, 71, was located deceased in a field near her home on Creek Road.

According to a statement issued by police, they responded to 987 Creek Road in Irasburg just after 1 p.m., Wednesday, for a reported missing person. The caller advised that he went to the residence to check on Patricia Little and found her husband, Stewart Little, home having a medical issue. Patricia was missing when he arrived.

Investigators say they learned that on Monday, at around 5:30 p.m., Patricia and her husband had returned home from a shopping trip. When they arrived home her husband fell getting out of the vehicle and was unable to stand up on his own. He told police that Patricia told him she was going to walk to a neighbor’s house to get help.

After some time he crawled to the house and made it into the living room where he remained until a family member came to check on him.

When Troopers arrived they conducted a search of the residence and surrounding area and then requested assistance from the Vermont State Police Search and Rescue Team, Vermont State Police K-9 and the Irasburg Fire Department. Mr. Little was taken to the hospital.

Police say there is no sign of foul play and the cause of death is pending.
